How to Fix Email Not Sending or Receiving on AxiomHost (Complete Troubleshooting Guide)

Introduction

Email delivery issues can be frustrating — especially when running a business, online store, or corporate website. Whether your emails are not sending, not receiving, going to spam, or bouncing back, this guide explains every possible fix.

This guide is designed for AxiomHost users in Nigeria, the US, the UK, and globally.

1. Check Your Email Quota

If your mailbox is full, you cannot send or receive emails.

How to Check:

cPanel → Email Accounts → Check “Storage Used”

Fix:

  • Delete old emails

  • Increase mailbox quota

  • Download old emails via IMAP and clear server space

2. Verify MX Records (Most Common Cause)

Your domain must point to AxiomHost’s email servers.

Correct MX Record:

Priority: 10
Value: mail.yourdomain.com

Also ensure:

A record → mail.yourdomain.com → Your hosting server IP

Check using:

3. Disable Remote MX if Using Local Email

If “Remote Mail Exchanger” is selected, the server will not receive emails.

Fix:

cPanel → MX Entry

Select: Local Mail Exchanger

4. Check SMTP Authentication (Sending Emails)

Most “can’t send email” problems come from incorrect SMTP settings.

Correct Settings:

  • SMTP Host: mail.yourdomain.com

  • SMTP Port: 465 (SSL)

  • Alternative Port: 587 (TLS)

  • Authentication: Required

  • Username: full email address

  • Password: email password

5. Ensure DNS Propagation

If you recently changed nameservers or MX records, allow time for propagation.

Propagation Time:

  • 30 minutes to 24 hours

During this period, some emails may not deliver consistently. This is normal.

6. Check If Your IP is Blacklisted

Blacklisted IPs may block outgoing mail.

Check via:

If listed, contact AxiomHost Support for IP rotation or blacklist removal.

7. Fix Emails Going to Spam

To prevent your emails from landing in spam folders, configure your domain's authentication records.

Required DNS Records:

SPF Record:

v=spf1 +a +mx +ip4:YOUR_SERVER_IP include:spf.liteserver.net ~all

DKIM:

Enable in cPanel → Email Deliverability

DMARC:

v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:you@yourdomain.com; ruf=mailto:you@yourdomain.com

These improve inbox delivery on Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, and corporate servers.

8. Fix “Email Sent But Not Delivered”

This issue happens when the receiving server rejects or filters the message.

Fixes:

  • Enable SPF, DKIM, DMARC

  • Check for blacklists

  • Avoid sending bulk mail from shared hosting

  • Use a transactional email provider for high volume

9. Fix Webmail Login Problems

Try this:

  • Use the correct URL: https://yourdomain.com/webmail

  • Reset the email password in cPanel

  • Check if email account is suspended or over quota

10. Enable Email Routing for External Providers

If using Gmail Workspace or Microsoft 365, your MX should NOT point to AxiomHost.

Example (Google Workspace):

  • ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM (Priority 1)

  • ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM
